How processes are assigned
Lead Distribution
When you open a lead in Nutshell, it automatically receives a sales process — which process is determined by the lead distribution page in Nutshell Setup.

Here you can edit process selection, telling Nutshell which process to give a new lead. A single sales process will be selected by default. To automatically assign different processes, create assignment rules based on a number of criteria: products, sources, competitor, etc.
For example, let's say you used a different sales process for all leads in the Retail industry — simply assign that different sales process for all leads created with an account in the retail industry.

Overlay processes
In the lead distribution section, you can also define overlay processes, which are additional processes that are attached to a lead, when certain conditions are met. For example, you could add an upsell process, when a specific product is added.
Step Actions
Overlay sales processes can be attached to a lead when a step is completed. In the sales process editor, click the magic wand icon on a step to display the 'Perform an Action' menu. Here, you can choose to attach a process when the step is completed.
In the example below, once the selected step is checked off, the steps to enroll a client into our 'Valued Customer Club' will magically appear on the lead.
