Lordy, lordy – look who’s 40!
Nutshell’s founder and CEO Andy Fowler turned 40 yesterday. Since day 1, Nutshell has been committed to great design and a top notch user experience, in large part thanks to Andy’s love and care around building a great product for our customers.
Therefore, to celebrate our leader’s life milestone, and to honor his continued legacy at Nutshell, our product team banded together and surprised him with 40 improvements to the Nutshell product. (A hat tip to Figma’s “Small, but big improvements” for inspiration).
Read the list of improvements below, and join us in wishing Andy a happy 40th!
1. The logged in user (you!) will appear at the top of user dropdowns, making it easier to assign yourself.
2. We’ve greatly improved the accessibility of our top navigation bar, with tons of tiny improvements to make life better.
3. Updating Scheduler meeting details sometimes lagged and felt slow – no longer!
4. We’ve removed the “Naming step” from a few creation flows. You can always rename something after-the-fact, but sometimes you don’t know what to name something before you create it – now you won’t have to!
5. Using email templates in Nutshell Marketing? Now you can build drip sequences from those templates, too.
6. We’ve improved the speed and accuracy of our AI email replies so you can get to your replies faster.
7. It might be summer now, but it’s never too late for spring cleaning. Looking to understand which sources, tags, and products are still in use? We’ve added a new ‘Last used’ column to those lists for that purpose.
8. It was unclear when leads would be created during CSV imports. We’ve changed the UI slightly to address this confusion to avoid any accidental new leads.
9. The last column of the list view can now be resized to fit your needs. Finally.
10. Filtering list views with our “Greater than 0” logic didn’t always work depending on the field. Now it does.
11. We’ve improved the clarity of fallback merge fields, so you can have confidence your email campaigns will deliver successfully.
12. A ‘# of companies’ field has been added to the people list, to help better understand which contacts work at multiple businesses.
13. There were a handful of pesky tooltips that wouldn’t link to the right place. We’ve wrangled those to avoid any more awkward moments.
14. When opening the filter drawer, you can now start searching for filters without needing that extra click.
15. Newly created Scheduler meetings won’t automatically appear on your public meeting page until you set them as such – letting you make sure they’re ready-to-go before others can book them.
16. We’ve made it easier for admins to quickly manage pipelines, company types, and a few other setup things in Nutshell.
17. Landing page cards now show the number of views your landing page has received.
18. We’ve made some improvements to our address parser for shorthand addresses like New York, NY.
19. Looking to browse search results with the arrow keys? We’ve “arrowed” in on that and got you covered.
20. We’ve added a new “Created via” filter to our list pages, to understand which people, companies, and leads are created via APIs, integrations, Forms, etc.
21. Sometimes, drip sequences are activated but aren’t being used anymore. We’ve added a new “Last sent message time” column to help discern which drips are still in your rotation.
22. Links in the Nutshell Chat widget are now much more visible.
23. Our ‘Copy link’ button feels a lot better to press. It’s the little things that matter.
24. When using the Nutshell Inbox, we’ve made it easier to navigate from a Chat, SMS, or social thread to the related leads.
25. Nobody likes a dead end, especially on their birthday. We’ve tracked down a few onboarding flows that didn’t quite get the job done, and fixed where they finish.
26. You can now set default activity types in Nutshell from your activity types list.
27. When you’ve connected our Zoom integration and have hundreds of past meetings, the count would overflow the sidebar. This has been remedied.
28. For our users on smaller screens, we’ve worked to improve the responsiveness of all of our tables, so they shrink and work with your needs.
29. The default sort of the leads list is now “Open date” instead of name. We’ll also include that column in every list.
30. Sometimes product improvements come in the form of support tools. Our excellent support team now has the ability to manually unbounce contacts that should no longer be bouncing.
31. We’ve audited the app and triaged any inconsistent casing of titles. This doesn’t matter to Eeveryone, but it matters to Andy.
32. Creating a Scheduler meeting will now use your default activity type. We’ve also made this option more front-and-center, so it’s not missed when configuring your meeting.
33. You can now filter the leads list by any pipelines previously archived. This allows for better historical reporting that was previously not possible.
34. For customers (like us) with a lot of pipelines, the pipelines list would sometimes take a while to load. No longer.
35. Improved the visibility and clarity of our “Add new” button.
36. For forms that add leads to a particular pipeline, we’ll now show that pipeline in the list view.
37. The list of landing pages now allows ordering your pages by total # of views.
378 You can now see and filter down to which audiences are on the email preference center page from your list of audiences.
39. When sorting tables, the ‘sort direction’ arrow was occasionally backwards. This confused us just as much as it likely confused you.
40. We’ve made it easier to understand which forms have recently been submitted with a new “Last submission time” column.
Andy – as we’ve grown over the years, you’ve always had the customer top of mind when adding to and improving Nutshell. This type of leadership inspires our Product team, Support team, Sales team, Success team, and Marketing team to always put ourselves in the shoes of our customers.
Nutshell will always focus on being a powerful and easy-to-use CRM thanks in large part to you and your dedication to providing a great user experience.
Thanks, Andy! Cheers to you for 40 years!
