Frequently asked questions

  • 1. What happens in Nutshell when I send or complete a DocuSign envelope?

The DocuSign integration can update the related lead when an envelope is sent or completed, and can log the send as an activity on the lead’s timeline. It keeps deal progress visible without manual updates.

  • 2. Where are signed documents stored, and can I open them from Nutshell?

Signed documents stay in your DocuSign account. Nutshell doesn’t download or store the signed file. Nutshell receives the “completed” signal, and you open the document in DocuSign.

  • 3. Does Nutshell track when someone views a contract or when each signer signs?

Not with the standard integration. It’s built around sent and completed envelopes. You can build your own Zaps in Zapier for additional steps, depending on the DocuSign triggers Zapier offers. Check signer progress in DocuSign.

  • 4. Can a DocuSign update trigger a Nutshell workflow?

Yes. A lead update from the DocuSign integration is treated like any other change in Nutshell. If it matches a trigger in one of your workflows, such as a stage change, field change or logged activity, that workflow can run.

  • 5. What accounts do I need to use the DocuSign integration?

You need a DocuSign account and a Nutshell account. The App Marketplace version is a Zapier-powered connection that Nutshell manages and whose Zapier fees Nutshell covers. If you build your own Zaps, you’ll need your own Zapier account.
