When a deal closes, the revenue conversation is just beginning. For businesses that invoice in stages, bill on milestones, or collect payments over months, the moment a lead is marked won isn’t when money arrives — it’s when the clock starts. Nutshell’s revenue installments help you see and report on when your payments come in.

What are revenue installments?

Revenue installments let you define a custom payment schedule directly on any lead. Each installment has a short description, a due date, and a dollar amount. You mark payments as collected when they come in — or flag them as failed if something goes wrong. It all lives in the Revenue card on the lead, right alongside your existing deal information, and works on both open and closed leads.

What can I do with revenue installments?

Build a payment schedule on any lead

Add installments before or after a lead closes — as many as your deal requires. A three-payment contract, a quarterly billing schedule, a milestone-based project — define the payments however they’re structured in real life. Installments can be edited anytime, so if a payment date shifts or an amount changes, you’re always working with accurate data.

See exactly how much you’ve collected

Once a lead is won, Nutshell shows a clear breakdown of total deal value versus revenue actually collected — for example, “$50,000 / $25,000 collected.” If payments fall short of the deal’s full value, a warning flag surfaces leads that need follow-up, so nothing slips past you.

Report on revenue when it actually lands

A new installments report shows your revenue by payment date, not close date. For businesses where cash flow doesn’t match deal close dates, this is the view that reflects your financial reality — not just when the paperwork was signed. This makes your forecasting reports far more accurate.

Filter and export your payment data

Find any lead by installment value or next payment due date directly from the leads list. Need to pull the data for a finance review or external report? Export your installment data anytime.

So… what does this mean for me?

If your business runs on payment plans, milestone billing, or any deal where the money comes in after the win, revenue installments give you the structure to track it all without leaving your CRM. One place to manage the full revenue picture — not just the close.
