Sales documents are a new addition to Nutshell that sit alongside the quotes and invoices you already create. A sales document can be a contract, a proposal, a set of terms and conditions, or any agreement you need a lead to sign. You upload it once as a reusable template, mark the spots that should fill in automatically from your CRM data, and send it off for signing—all from inside Nutshell.

You can send a document on its own, or pair it with a quote or invoice so the agreement and the numbers travel together. Either way, a completed signature becomes part of your sales process, so a signed document can move a lead forward just like any other goal.

What can I do with documents and e-signatures?

Build reusable document templates

Upload your contracts, proposals, and terms as PDF templates, then reuse them across every deal. When an agreement changes, archive the old version and keep your template library current—so reps always start from the right document instead of digging up the last one they sent.

Auto-fill documents with your CRM data

Mark the fields in a template that should populate on a per-lead basis—person name and email, company name, lead value, and any of your custom fields. When a rep prepares a document, Nutshell fills those fields in automatically and prompts for anything that’s missing, so a blank email address or one-off detail can be entered on the spot. Less retyping, fewer copy-paste mistakes.

Send documents for secure e-signing

When a document is ready, send it to your lead with a secure link. Before it goes out, you can preview exactly what the recipient will see—both the visual document and the full list of merged fields—so there are no surprises. Your lead opens the link, reviews the agreement, and signs, no account or extra software required.

Capture legally binding signatures with a full audit trail

When a lead signs, they confirm their name and acknowledge that the signature is legally binding. Behind the scenes, Nutshell records the details that make a signature defensible—including the signing date and time, IP address, and browser, along with confirmation that the document was opened from the link sent to that recipient’s email. Once it’s signed, both you and the signer can download the completed document.

Require a signature to close a quote

Documents and signatures aren’t just for standalone contracts. On a quote, you can now choose how it gets accepted: accept with a click, require a signature, or require a signed document. Turn on signatures and your quote gains a name and signature line and behaves like a contract—so the same agreement your buyer reviews is the one that closes the deal.
