Texts from RingCentral Saved in Your Nutshell Inbox

If your team texts customers from RingCentral, those conversations normally live outside of your CRM—or show up as disconnected activity instead of real Inbox threads. That makes it hard to see the full story next to leads and contacts, and harder still to reply from the same business number without hopping tools.

We built a RingCentral SMS Inbox so your RingCentral texts sync into Nutshell’s Inbox, land on the right timelines, and can be answered from your configured RingCentral number—right where your team already works.

Everything’s connected for a complete customer history.

What is RingCentral SMS Inbox?

RingCentral SMS Inbox connects one company RingCentral number to Nutshell. Direct texts to and from that number sync into Engagement Inbox as real conversations, with matching history on person, company, and lead timelines.

Admins set it up under Engagement > Setup > SMS in the RingCentral SMS Inbox section. Once the number is saved and active, inbound and outbound RingCentral texts stay in Nutshell instead of living as a separate side conversation.

What can I do with RingCentral SMS Inbox?

Sync RingCentral texts into your Inbox

When someone texts your configured RingCentral number—or your team texts from it—the conversation appears in Nutshell’s SMS Inbox. Matching messages also show on the related contact or lead timeline, so reps see the same thread whether they start from Inbox or the record.

Reply from your RingCentral number

Open an active RingCentral thread and reply in the composer. Nutshell sends through the RingCentral number that owns the conversation, and shows Sending from RingCentral plus that number so nobody has to guess which line will reply.

Tell RingCentral threads apart at a glance

RingCentral conversations use the RingCentral logo in the thread list and label Received via RingCentral with the business number in the open thread. Native Nutshell SMS stays clearly labeled on its own, so mixed inboxes stay readable.

Keep Nutshell SMS and RingCentral separate—on purpose

Opt-outs and delivery behavior stay scoped to the provider that sent the message. A STOP on RingCentral doesn’t silence Nutshell SMS for the same contact phone, and RingCentral replies don’t consume Nutshell SMS credits. Messaging costs for RingCentral traffic stay with your RingCentral plan.

So… what does this mean for me?

Your team can work RingCentral text conversations inside Nutshell the same way they already work other Inbox threads—without losing the RingCentral number customers already know, and without treating texts as orphaned activity logs.

How do I get started?

Ask an admin to open Engagement > Setup > SMS, connect RingCentral in the RingCentral SMS Inbox section, pick an SMS-capable number, and save it. Your company can use one active RingCentral SMS number at a time, for direct one-to-one texts. For step-by-step setup, see our support article.
