Announcing Nutshell Mail Sync for Google Workspace Users

-

Quick answer: What is Nutshell’s email sync for Gmail?
Nutshell email sync connects your Gmail account to Nutshell and saves the emails you send and receive to the right person. Synced email is private to you by default.
UPDATE: Visit our integrations page to learn about Nutshell’s latest email sync features for Gmail, Office 365, and more!
Before mail sync launched in November 2022, customers were adding tens of thousands of emails a day through [email protected] or the Google Workspace “Nutshell” tag. These methods require manual intervention (or some very inventive workarounds), to keep your CRM in the loop.
CRM is only useful when it’s accurate, and that’s why we work hard to make it simple to do things like log activities and add contacts.
Today, it’s a lot easier to track the emails you send and receive in Nutshell. This email sync feature connects to Gmail accounts.
To turn it on, go to Your settings > Email Send > Set up email with Nutshell, choose Start, then Connect with Google, and open Sync settings to start syncing. Your Google Workspace admin may need to approve Nutshell first. Gmail sync is included on every plan, so you never have to remember to add an email by hand again.
Connected Gmail and can’t find an older thread? Nutshell checks for new mail every few minutes, and your first sync brings in recent email rather than your full history. After that, email that matches your sync settings arrives automatically. You can sync all of your email, or only the messages you label “Nutshell”.
Privacy and sharing
Getting the privacy settings right was our most important task for this feature. Synced email is private to you until you choose to share it. The settings below decide what your team can see.
Emails added by BCC or the Chrome extension are shared with your team and can’t be hidden. The privacy controls below apply to synced email.
Only share messages with Nutshell persons
If we import a message to or from somebody who isn’t a Nutshell person, we won’t share that message with your team.
Share all messages manually
If you want even more stringent privacy settings, you can configure mail sync to only share messages after you’ve manually approved them.
Never share internal email
Messages amongst your team will never be automatically shared, whether it’s an email about the cupcakes in the office kitchen, or an email from your boss.
Blocklists
There are certain emails you never want to appear in a CRM: HR or payroll tools, for example. Add email addresses to your personal blocklist plus an admin-level global blocklist and internal domains, and those messages will never touch our servers, much less appear in Nutshell.
Unique styling for private & public email
Messages that aren’t shared with your team have a unique dotted line around them, so it’s always clear when a message is visible to the rest of your team.
New inbox
To make it easier to see the messages imported with mail sync, we’ve added an inbox view accessible from the Email tab under your account. This is a live timeline of every email we’ve imported. Synced email appears in your Inbox, on the main timeline and on each person’s timeline.
One click share-and-create
With one click, you share a message you sent or received, as well as create a person for the recipient.

Email sync available now
We can’t wait to see how this feature makes it easier to track and organize communications with your leads.
