Impact is the partnership management software we use to run our partner program. When signing up for our partner program, you will create an Impact account. Once approved, you can use Impact to generate tracking links, access resources, and report on your clicks, referrals, and earnings.
Impact provides a central location for managing everything related to your partnership with Nutshell. It also automates various elements of the partnership process, including tracking clicks, leads, and conversions and sending payouts.
Here’s a look at the main benefits Impact provides:
While looking through your Impact contract or the Impact platform, you may encounter some unfamiliar terms. Below are some key terms and their definitions for Impact and partnering with Nutshell.
An event that is tracked in Impact and attributed to partners. These events include customer purchases and events that contribute to potential purchases, such as lead signups.
Once an action is locked, it can no longer be modified in Impact. This locking period provides time to resolve any issues related to an action or make any necessary adjustments.
An affiliate is an individual or entity that promotes a business, product, or service in exchange for a commission, typically by sending traffic to the business through affiliate links. An affiliate may also be called a partner or associate.
Attribution is the process of identifying events that contributed to a desired outcome such as a customer purchase, assigning a value to those events, and determining which channels or partners receive credit for the events.
A commission is the fee a partner receives for referring a lead or customer to a business they’ve partnered with.
A conversion is the successful completion of an action a business wants its audience to take. Common examples of conversions include lead signups and purchases.
Credit policy is the method used to determine which partner receives credit for a completed action. Common credit policies include:
A parent action is an action in the customer journey that must take place before a given action can be completed. For example, if someone must become a lead before becoming a customer, the lead signup is the parent action of the customer’s purchase.
The referral window is the time period between a click and conversion within which a partner can receive credit for the conversion. For example, with a 30-day referral window, a customer must convert within 30 days of clicking a partner’s referral link for that partner to receive credit for the conversion.
A tracking link, also called an affiliate or referral link, is a unique URL that enables events such as clicks and conversions to be tracked and attributed to partners.
To start earning commissions, you’ll need to publish your tracking links on your website or share them via channels such as email, YouTube, and social media. When your audience clicks on these links and signs up for Nutshell, you’ll automatically receive credit for the conversions.
You can find tracking links and assets to share on your website in Impact under ‘Content’ in the top navigation bar in Impact.
To share a tracking link with your audience, select a link, click copy, and then paste the link into the desired location on your website or in your content.
You can also find images and other multimedia assets that contain your unique tracking links in Impact. To share one of these assets, choose an asset, click ‘Ad code,’ click ‘Copy code,’ and then paste the code onto a page on your website.
Through Nutshell’s partner program, when someone you refer to Nutshell through your unique tracking link purchases a Nutshell subscription, you’ll receive a commission on the total cost of that customer’s subscription for their first year as a customer.
To find the commission percentage, refer to your contract in Impact. As you refer more customers to Nutshell, your commission percentage may increase. Your contract provides full details on commission tiers.
You‘ll receive your commission payment through Impact approximately 50-80 days after a referral purchases a Nutshell subscription.
Actions, such as subscription purchases, are locked 27 days after the end of the month in which they are tracked. 20 days after the end of the month in which they lock, payments for approved transactions are sent. At this point, you will receive your commission payments through Impact.
For example, if one of your referrals purchases a Nutshell subscription on June 28th, that action will “lock” on July 27th, and your payment for that action will be sent on August 20th.
You can view all of your activity and payment details in your Impact dashboard.
