Insightly vs. Zoho comparison

Choosing a customer relationship management (CRM) platform isn’t easy. You have to consider many different factors, from price to sales automation, and there are lots of options to choose from. It can be hard to figure out how all those different options compare to one another.

Two examples of widely used CRMs are Insightly and Zoho. Both of these tools may be among those your company is considering using, but you might not be sure how they stack up against one another.

The good news is we’re here to help. On this page, we’ll go over some pros and cons of each tool and see how Insightly and Zoho compare on several key CRM elements. Keep reading to learn more!

Insightly pros

Insightly has several benefits that make it a good CRM for many companies. Those benefits include:

  • Ease of use: One of the best things about Insightly is that it’s easy to use. Customers frequently praise the intuitive interface and simple navigation.
  • Integrations: Insightly also offers a wide range of integrations with third-party apps, some of which are native to the platform and some of which require an application programming interface (API).
  • Mobile app: Insightly isn’t just available through the desktop tool—it also offers a mobile app that’s equally easy to use.

Insightly cons

Insightly has its advantages, but there are also some downsides to using it. Those downsides include:

  • Pricing: Insightly does offer several different plans, so you have options. However, the higher-tier plans get expensive, especially if you add on marketing features.
  • Customer support: Another weak spot for Insightly is its customer service. It’s helpful at times, but customers have indicated that it could be significantly improved.
  • Customization: Insightly uses a very set, rigid layout. This layout doesn’t really offer much room for customization or personalization, which is important to many companies.

Zoho pros

Just like Insightly, Zoho has its own set of advantages. Those advantages include:

  • Pricing: Zoho is one of the most affordable CRM options out there. In addition to being inexpensive, it offers an even cheaper price if you pay annually instead of monthly.
  • Deal creation: One of Zoho’s best features is the fact that it makes it so easy to set up new deals on the platform, as well as track and follow up on those deals.
  • Reporting: Zoho’s reporting is another top-tier feature. It offers plenty of reporting options that give you valuable insights into your sales processes.

Zoho cons

For all its advantages, Zoho also has quite a few downsides. Here are a few of the biggest ones:

  • Customer service: One of Zoho’s biggest weak spots is its customer service. Customers frequently report that Zoho’s team is slow to respond and unhelpful when they do.
  • Integrations: Unfortunately, Zoho doesn’t offer a wide range of integrations—in fact, it doesn’t offer any with its free plan. And the integrations it does offer are difficult to set up.
  • Learning curve: Zoho isn’t inherently difficult to use, but it does take a while to get started with it due to a steep learning curve. That can delay your results significantly.

Pricing

Insightly offers a few different pricing plans. Of these, the cheapest is $29 per user per month, and the most expensive is $99 per user per month. That means the best Insightly plans err more on the expensive side.

Zoho, on the other hand, is much cheaper overall. It costs $35 per user per month if you pay annually or $45 per user per month if you pay monthly. Zoho also offers a free plan.

Ease of use

It goes without saying that when you get a new CRM, you want it to be easy to use. Thankfully, Insightly does well in this category, with customers reporting that the platform is very straightforward and intuitive.

Zoho, on the other hand, doesn’t do as well here. It’s not too bad once you get the hang of it, but it does have a steep learning curve, which means it can take time to drive results.

Reporting

Reporting is another key feature of any CRM, and both Zoho and Insightly use it very effectively. Both tools feature reporting capabilities that can delve deep into your sales data to reveal key insights about your customers and your pipeline.

Between the two tools, Zoho’s reporting is slightly better, but Insightly’s reports aren’t anything to turn your nose up at.

Integrations

Insightly does a great job with integrations. It offers more than 2000 options, some of which are native integrations.

Unfortunately, Zoho doesn’t score so well in this category. Customers report that it doesn’t offer many integrations, and the ones it does offer are difficult to set up. In fact, the free plan doesn’t come with any at all. So, Insightly definitely wins in this category.

Sales automation

Finally, we come to sales automation. Both Zoho and Insightly do well in this category—Zoho probably stands out a bit more since it comes equipped with an AI tool called Zia that can recommend specific automated workflows to you based on your activity. However, Insightly’s sales automation is perfectly adequate as well.

Insightly vs. Zoho: Which is better?

Now we come back to the main question of this page—should your business use Insightly or Zoho? Which tool is better?

The answer depends entirely upon your particular needs. If your priority is ease of use or integrations, go with Insightly. But if you’re looking for a cheaper option or prioritizing sales automation and reporting, Zoho could be the best choice.

However, keep in mind that both of these tools share some weaknesses. For instance, neither of them offers particularly good customer service. For that reason, you may decide the best option for your business is to choose a different CRM entirely.
